Our mission is to show companies how straightforward building a modern data platform can be with a pragmatic approach. We believe in moving data engineering “from art to industry” by empowering teams with lean, repeatable, and reliable ways of working.

Our Foundation: The Pragmatic Data Platform (PDP)
Our consulting methodology is built on the Pragmatic Data Platform (PDP), a powerful framework created by our founder, Roberto Zagni.
The PDP was first described in Roberto’s successful 2023 book, “Data Engineering with dbt” The success of the projects that adopted this architecture convinced Roberto to expand his efforts and create Pragmatic Data.
To support our clients and the broader community, we’ve evolved the original concepts from the book into the PDP dbt package. This package accelerates adoption and improves the maintainability of any project built on the PDP methodology

Our Future: Evolving the Practice
We are continuously refining our approach to meet real-world business needs. Roberto is currently collaborating with Jakob Brandell on a follow-up book, tentatively titled “Building a Pragmatic Data Platform with dbt and Snowflake”
This new, implementation-oriented guide is designed to help both business stakeholders and seasoned practitioners successfully plan and execute projects, capturing the full benefits of a lean and pragmatic approach.
